Cleaner - Time Stop, Peterborough

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Cleaner to join YMCA Cambridgeshire & Peterborough at Time Stop in Peterborough.  In return we offer a competitive salary of £6240 per annum and 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, pro rata for part time workers.

The Cleaner will ensure the premises are kept clean, tidy and hygienic thereby assisting in the provision of a warm, caring environment for young people, customers and employees.

You should have the following qualities:

  • Working knowledge of Health & Safety, including COSSH and other relevant statutory requirements
  • Experience of cleaning to a high standard
  • Previous experience in a cleaning role
  • Ability to work as part of a team but also use your own initiative
  • Have a non-judgemental, empathic attitude towards people experiencing difficulties
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries within the workplace

Hours of work: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, 16 hours per week, 8.30am to 12.30pm with a flexible approach.

Respect Project Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join YMCA Cambridgeshire and Peterborough as part of a Big Lottery funded project which will support young people aged 11 to 25 who are affected or involved in Domestic Violence in Cambridgeshire, we will separately work with perpetrators and victims to improve relationships where Domestic Violence is present, this work is vital to break the cycle of Domestic Violence in new generations of children and young people.

Based in Peterborough, but with travel countywide  we offer a competitive salary of £30,000 and 27 days holiday. This position is on a Fixed Term Contract to 1st June 2020.

The Respect Project Manager will be responsible for:

  • Managing and developing the Respect project to achieve positive outcomes and objectives for targeted young people outlines in the proposal and business plan
  • Raising awareness of youth Domestic Violence and promote healthy and safe relationships in schools and the community
  • Line Managing the Sessional Workers, Administrator, Social Worker Placements and volunteers
  • Promoting Respect and develop key pathways amongst statutory and voluntary partners

The successful Respect Project Manager will have:

  • A knowledge and understanding of safeguarding for young people and vulnerable adults and confidentiality policies
  • A knowledge of Domestic Violence Policy, Legislation and best practice guidelines
  • Relevant qualification at level 4 or above
  • Computer literate and confident in using software to produce reports
  • Experience of managing projects working with young people and youth justice
  • Experience of managing issues relating to domestic violence, with particular knowledge of sexual assaults, victim awareness, substance abuse, mental health and learning disabilities
  • Experience of setting up and delivering successful projects and meeting outcomes and objectives
  • Experience of managing, developing and motivating staff and volunteers
  • Experience of preparing and delivering promotional materials for different target audiences
  • Experience of managing budgets
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with experience of managing relationships within a multi agency setting, across statutory and voluntary service sectors
  • A current driving licence and access to a car for work

The hours of work are 40 per week, Monday to Friday although some hours may need to be worked outside of normal working hours.

  • Experience of risk management
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with experience of managing relationships within a multi agency setting

Intervention Worker

We are looking for Interventions Workers to join our team delivering our Menu of Services to schools.  You will:

  • Deliver programmes of semi-structured intervention that meet the needs of children and young people aged 5-16 displaying early signs of mental health issues, which may be carried out on an individual or group basis within primary or secondary schools
  • Carry out assessments of need and suitability, as well as assessment of progress and impact on each child involved
  • Option to also engage in delivery of accredited health and fitness qualifications

You will need:

  • Experience of working with children and young people
  • An awareness of the needs of children, parents / carers and schools
  • Able to develop, deliver and evaluate group work and individual programmes with children
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to enable effective working with children, parents/carers, school teachers / support staff and workers from other agencies
  • Self motivated with a good dispositions with the ability to listen and empathise with children and parents/carers who may be experiencing difficulty in their lives
  • Flexible approach to work and ability to travel as necessary
  • Knowledge of health and well-being needs would be advantageous
  • For those wishing to deliver our health and fitness qualifications, an Award in Education certificate would be needed or a commitment to work towards it.

Hours:                   As and when required on a sessional basis
Hourly rate :       £10.64 plus travel expenses

YMCA Primary Therapists/ Secondary Counsellors

Location: Various schools – Cambs, Peterborough, Fenland, Lincs, Northants, Norfolk, Suffolk (within 25mile radius from your location)

Brief Overview
Are you looking for an exciting opportunity in your Counselling Career? Looking for an organisation who can offer great benefits and regular work during the school day?  The YMCA Menu of Services offer 1:1 therapy to children and young people aged between 5 & 18 in Cambridgeshire & Peterborough.  We provide therapeutic interventions for children and young people who have social, emotional and behavioural difficulties.  Due to demand, we are now looking to expand the service across neighbouring areas, and require more therapists to cover both existing and new clients.

You should have the following qualities:

  • Previous experience of working with children
  • Have a minimum of:- Certificate in Therapeutic Play, or had some training in play therapy alongside a L4 in Counselling (Primary School work); or have a L4 in Child & Adolescent Therapeutic Counselling (Secondary school work) or equivalent
  • Be registered with PTUK, BAPT, BACP or equivalent having obtained a minimum of 120 hours of clinical experience
  • Be able to travel
  • Be able to work on a self employed basis during the day for one or more days a week for the duration of each school contract
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continued CPD (minimum of 30 hours pa)

Reparation Activity Sessional Worker

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Sessional Worker to join YMCA Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Reparation project to be based in Cambridge but with a flexible approach to working in other areas of Cambridgeshire.  Working hours will generally take place on a Saturday and Sunday morning from 9.30am to 12.30pm although hours can vary, occasional weekday sessions may be available.

You will assist with the supervision and support of young people with a Reparation Order working on various practical work experience based projects within the local community which can include:

• Gardening
• Painting and decorating
• Work with animals
• Carpentry and upcycling

You will share your skills and experience to help motivate and encourage young people whilst undertaking practical, meaningful work.

You should have the following:
• Be over 18 years old
• A full driving licence and use of your own car to transport young people to activities
• Experience of working with challenging young people (10 to 18 years)
• Be happy to work alone with a group of 3 young people
• Have an open and non judgemental approach
• Be able to relate to and engage with young people
• Be able to remain tolerant and patient in challenging situations
• Be an effective listener and have excellent communication skills
• Be able to establish and maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality at all times
• Be reliable and punctual
• Be able to work as part of a team

Hourly rate £9.20 – £10.20 depending on experience.

Relief Workers - Queen Anne House

We are looking for Relief Workers to join our team and work on an as and when required basis. You will be required to:

  • To provide a warm welcome for people who are enquiring by phone, or who are visiting Queen Anne House
  • To undertake administrative tasks and general office duties that support the central office functions and the Management team on a daily basis, as required and directed by the Customer Services Officer
  • To provide front of house support to all users using YMCA facilities
