CYQ Certificate in Studio (ETM) Instruction, Level 2 - Practical Element Only
For students who have already achieved Exercise & Fitness Knowledge Level 2 and wish to take the Practical Element of Studio Instruction only

TARGET CANDIDATES
- Students who have already achieved an NVQ Level 2 Certificate in fitness instruction and who wish to take the practical exercise instruction element only of the Studio Instructor course.
- For example, if a student who has completed the full Level 2 Certificate in Gym Instruction and wishes to also qualify as a Studio Instructor, they need only take the practical element of the Certificate in Studio Instruction.
PREREQUISITES
Candidates must already hold:
- NVQ Level 2 Certificate in Exercise & Fitness Knowledge or equivalent
COURSE DESCRIPTION
The practical side of the course is 5 full days. The course is held at the YMCA in Cambridge and covers the following subjects:
- Safe and effective warm-up
- Aerobic component
- Muscle strength and endurance component
- Cool down, including exercises to develop flexibilty
ASSESSMENT PROCEDURE
Practical assessment of qualification is conducted at the YMCA Cambridge and is in three parts:
- Plan and prepare a practical Studio session
- Instruct a Studio session
- Note: you will be required to bring two volunteers with you to take part in the exercise session
- Evaluate coaching sessions and develop personal coaching practice

COURSE 1: 5 days
2-4 and 9 & 10 January 2010: Assessments 6/7 February 2010
COURSE 2: 5 days
12-14 and 24 & 25 April 2010: Assessments 15/16 May 2010
COURSE 3: 5 days
25-27 and 30 & 31 October 2010: Assessments 27/28 November 2010
